E-Waste Elimination Station

We're teaming up with Hot Z95, 92.7 kbay and 1440 KEYS once again this year to bring Corpus Christi the Earth Day E-Waste Elimination Station event!  Here are the event details:

Friday, April 22 from 7a - noon
2117 Leopard Street (between Crosstown and Port)

We'll be working with Goodwill to collect your electronic waste and EVERYTHING will be recycled!  Goodwill works with the Dell Re-Connect program which earns Goodwill some money back for everything they recycle.  This means that not only will you be helping mother nature and supporting Goodwill's mission, but you can also receive a tax receipt and write off your donation!  It doesn't get much better than that!

So go through the attic and closets for those old electronics that are no longer working and dispose of them correctly at our E-waste Elimination Station.

We'll see you on Friday!

Upcoming Green Event: GO GREEN EXPO

Stop by the Coastal Bend Green Team booth on April 22nd & 23rd at La Palmera Mall.  For more information go to:  http://www.lapalmera.com/GoGreenExpo.aspx

Volunteers Needed!!

There's a really wonderful opportunity to work alongside the Corpus Christi Hooks and their enhanced recycling program.  In partnership with CC Disposal, the Hooks are looking to increase volume by placing extra receptacles throughout Whataburger Field.
To draw and encourage fans to properly dispose of recyclables, they are looking for GREEN volunteers to walk areas with trash bags, collecting recycling (plastic and aluminum) and pointing out receptacles at the end of the 7th inning.

Tickets and Hooks t-shirts that promote the green program will be provided for all volunteers, though I'm encouraging our teams to wear PRIDE/Clean City or Mayor's Fitness Council shirts.

These promotions will run the Thursday, Friday and Saturday games only.  A full schedule can be found here:

Thank you and three cheers for our awesome hometown team for being GREEN!  Go Hooks!

Corpus Christi, TX – BBB Education Foundation invites Coastal Bend consumers and businesses to participate in its bi-annual Shred Day THIS Saturday, April 16, 2011. The event provides free shredding and recycling services to take steps toward identity theft prevention and a greener planet. BBB Education Foundation will also offer free, safe cell phone recycling as an extra benefit.

BBB Shred Day Details
Who: BBB Education Foundation invites all Coastal Bend consumers and business owners.

What: Free on-site document shredding and recycling with resources for preventing identity theft. Bring up to five boxes or bags of documents to be shredded as well as old cell phones to be recycled. Staples do not need to be removed, but documents should be taken out of binders.

When: Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 9am to 1pm.

Where: KIII-TV studios at 5002 S. Padre Island Drive.

Why Shred?
According to Consumer Sentinel Network, over 24,000 Texans became victims of identity theft in 2010. The most common forms of identity theft occur through forging driver’s licenses and personal government documents. To help take away the access to these materials, BBB Education Foundation urges everyone to properly dispose of sensitive documents and electronics that contain this information.
Why Recycle?
According to the Paper Industry Association Council, only 63% of all paper consumed in the United States is recovered for recycling. The shredding services on BBB Shred Day will recycle 100% of the shredded materials. BBB Shred Day is a chance to take advantage of a free service and help promote a greener community.
For more information on BBB Shred Day, visit corpuschristi.bbb.org/shred. This event is brought to you by BBB Education Foundation serving Central, Coastal and Southwest Texas, in partnership with Dell, Lonestar Shredding and Document Storage, Corpus Christi Police Department and the Wireless Alliance.
