The Coastal Bend Green Team is a proud sponsor of the 25th Annual Texas General Land Office Adopt-A-Beach Spring Cleanup on April 30th! 

Here are some fun facts about Adopt-A-Beach and the info you need to know to volunteer!

Adopt-A-Beach Facts
Ø  The Adopt-A-Beach program is an all-volunteer program that began in 1986 in an effort to rid Texas beaches of litter.
Ø  Since the program began, 406,000 volunteers have removed more than 7,900 tons of trash from the Texas coastline.
Ø  The Adopt-A-Beach cleanups are an opportunity to come together with family and friends and hopefully meet new friends while doing something good for the community and the environment.
Ø  The volunteers are what make this program so successful.

Spring Cleanup Information for the Corpus Christi Region

Ø  The 25th Annual Texas General Land Office Spring Cleanup will be held at 30 sites all along the Texas coast on April 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Ø  There are 11 sites in the Corpus Christi area – Rockport, Aransas Pass/Redfish Bay, Portland, St. Jo Island/Port Aransas, Port Aransas, Mustang Island State Park, Corpus Christi Beach, Cole Park, North Padre Island, Padre Island National Seashore, and Baffin Bay-Rivera.
Ø  Since the cleanups began in 1986, 53,862 volunteers have removed 1,883,948 pounds or 942 tons of trash from the Corpus Christi region.

Corpus Christi Beach – Media Site

Ø  Last spring, 312 volunteers cleaned 16,250 pounds of trash from Corpus Christi Beach.
Ø  Since the cleanups began, 4,612 volunteers have removed 143,770 pounds or 72 tons of trash.

What Volunteers need to do to Participate:

Ø  Check out the website at http://www.texasadoptabeach.org/ or call toll free 1-877-TXCOAST (892-6278).
Ø  Locate the site you want to attend at http://www.texasadoptabeach.org/.
Ø  Register online or contact the local site coordinator to pre-register large groups by Wednesday, April 27th–or just show up that morning between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.
Ø  Check in and receive your supplies (trash bags, gloves, data cards, and pencils).
Ø  Go clean the beach. 
Ø  When finished cleaning, return back to the check-in site and turn in your data cards and enjoy some refreshments.
Ø  Volunteers will need to wear a closed toe shoes and bring – sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and drinking water.
Ø  We clean rain or shine!
